About this program

Muscovy Sanctuary of Florida ("we," "us," "the Sanctuary") operates a text messaging program used to communicate with people who contact us about Muscovy ducks. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit organization.

Messages you may receive include:

  • Confirmation that we received your report, rescue request, or inquiry

  • Status updates on an abuse or neglect case you reported

  • Follow-up questions from a volunteer working your case

  • Coordination for rescue, intake, rehoming, or transport

  • Volunteer scheduling and event logistics, if you are a volunteer

This is a conversational and transactional program. We do not send marketing or fundraising text messages.

This is not an emergency service. Text messages are answered by volunteers and may not be seen right away.

How you opt in

We only send text messages to people who have given us their mobile number and agreed to be contacted by text. You may opt in by any of the following:

  • Texting us first. Sending any message to 813-616-9639 opts you in to receive replies about your inquiry.

  • Submitting a form on our website. Our report, contact, and volunteer forms include a clearly labeled, unchecked consent checkbox next to your mobile number field. You must check it yourself; it is never checked for you, and it is never a condition of submitting the form or of receiving help.

  • Telling a volunteer. If you give us your mobile number by phone or in person and agree to be contacted by text, we will note that consent in your case record.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any service, assistance, or purchase. We do not add numbers obtained from third parties, purchased lists, public records, or social media.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on your interaction with us. Most people receive only a handful of messages related to a single report or request.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. We do not charge for this program, but your mobile carrier may charge you for sending or receiving text messages, depending on your plan. Contact your carrier for details.

How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message at any time to end all text messages from us. You will receive a final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and we will not send any further texts to that number.

To start again, reply with START or text us anytime.

How to get help

Reply HELP to any message for support information, or reach us directly:

Carriers and delivery

Delivery of text messages is subject to your mobile carrier's effective transmission and is outside our control. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is supported on major U.S. carriers, and carrier participation may change without notice.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian, to participate in this program. You must also be the account holder of, or have authority to use, the mobile number you provide.

Your information

We use your mobile number only to communicate with you about the Sanctuary's work and your interaction with us. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Numbers may be handled by the vendors that operate our messaging and case-management systems solely to deliver these messages.

Case-related information you send us by text may be included in reports we submit to law enforcement or wildlife agencies when you have asked us to escalate a case. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with an updated date.
